  <description>In "includes/rewrite.php", change "category" to "blog" or whatever you want to change the category base to (cannot be left blank).  Create a page called "blog" and put your blog there, then all your custom categories will work when using the Category widget.

The permalink structure to match this is "/%category%/%postname%/" so your direct links will look the same.
